Spanish Broadcasting System has agreed to use Arbitron’s Portable People Meter Measurement System for ratings, when it is deployed in five markets where SBS has stations.
This is Arbitron’s second radio ownership group to sign a contract for PPM ratings services, and its first multi-market deal. Beasley signed up for PPM in January.
The markets included in the SBS agreement are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Miami.
These agreements do not commit Arbitron to a specific timetable for deployment of the Portable People Meter system. Arbitron has not yet made a decision regarding when and for which markets it will deploy PPM.
“Still, these additional signings are a good start toward obtaining the critical mass that we seek,” a spokesman stated.
