Spanish Broadcasting System Inc. and radio advertising sales and marketing company Interep have created an SBS/Interep division to market the Spanish-language SBS Radio Network and Interep-represented Hispanic stations to national advertisers.
Interep and SBS hope to raise the visibility of Spanish-language radio among national advertisers, as Hispanic consumers represent 13 % of the U.S. population but receive less than 3 % of total radio ad dollars. The new division will implement marketing initiatives and incentive packages to try and close the gap.
One of the initiatives is the co-sponsored Interep and SBS “Power of Hispanic Radio” event scheduled for October in New York City. It plans to bring together hundreds of the nation’s media decision-makers, advertisers and clients to discuss the growing importance of Hispanic consumers and Hispanic radio’s ability to reach this community.
