Shock Jock Tom Leykis Reports Attack

Shock Jock Tom Leykis Reports Attack

The Seattle Times reported an assault on syndicated shock jock Tom Leykis outside a Seattle bar early Monday morning. Police are looking for the radio listeners allegedly responsible for the attack.
Leykis said yesterday during a phone interview that the attack left him with 17 stitches above his right eye, and occurred during one of his regular trips to broadcast from Seattle, where he maintains a fan base. Leykis told the Times he stepped outside of the Five Point Café at about 3:45 a.m. when a man began talking to him and another kicked him in the head. “I was minding my own business. It was a person who knew who I was from the radio,” said Leykis.
According to Seattle police records, Leykis and a witness with him state the radio jock was “not feeling well” when one of the alleged assailants photographed him outside the bar and went back inside to show the photo to two other men. The witness saw this, paid the bill inside and returned outside to check on Leykis. According to the report, two men followed her out, and one of them said to Leykis, “I called your show once and you called me (a name). You had no right to do that.”
A man standing to Leykis’ left then kicked him in the face, knocking him to his knees. The report says the two men fled, while a third approached the taxi, in which Leykis and his witness were leaving, to apologize. Leykis received treatment from a police aid car at his hotel, but required further treatment.
The men’s images may have been captured on video. Seattle police spokesman Sean Whitcomb told the Times that Leykis and the witness have viewed security-camera footage with the bar’s staff.
