TAB Chooses New Show Venue for 2024

An indoor/outdoor waterpark is next door

The Texas Association of Broadcasters will hold its annual conference at a new venue next year.

“We’re taking the TAB Show to Kalahari Resorts & Conventions just 23 miles north of downtown Austin Aug. 7–8, 2024,” said association President Oscar Rodriguez.

The annual conference is the largest state broadcast association event in the United States. The 2023 event was held last week and drew about 1,200 attendees.

Rodriguez said the Kalahari “is a first-class property that provides a far superior experience for delegates and exhibitors, with a state-of-the-art convention center boasting tons of free parking, ideal load-in facilities for vendors, more space to accommodate new conference partners and to grow the experience — plus, nearly a dozen restaurants and live music venues on-site.”

Rodriguez said the resort facilities “are completely separate from the convention center and will give our delegates a chance to bring the spouse and family for a great post-show experience into the weekend at the arcades, waterpark and other offerings.”

Also, he said, attendees will be able to avoid traffic problems expected to accompany a construction project on I-35 in central Austin.

The conference has been at the JW Marriott in downtown Austin for more than a decade. The cost of parking was among the downsides cited by some attendees.
