Comrex has released its new FieldLink Cloud subscription service and will feature it at this week’s NAB Show New York.
FieldLink Cloud expands the reach of the company’s FieldLink codec by providing more connectivity options such as 4G/5G, and public Wi-Fi services.
“FieldLink Cloud is a Comrex-managed server that gets around complex router and firewall issues to make connections fast and simple,” the company says.
“It uses both iOS and Android devices and the device’s default web browser to give the user a simple, yet comprehensive interface for connection, control and statistical feedback when connected to the FieldLink codec.”
The FieldLink itself is a sideline reporter codec introduced to replace more expensive wireless mic/IFB solutions and to move audio to and from sideline reporters and the press box using smartphones.
Using a directional, private, wireless access point, sideline reporters use their hones to send and receive low-delay audio using a free Comrex FieldTap app.
Comrex is offering a free one-year subscription FieldLink Cloud to users purchasing a FieldLink sideline reporter codec. Subscription signup is managed through the codec’s screen.
Also now available is another upgrade called FieldLink Studio. It allows FieldLink to also be a connection back to the studio.
“Compatible with all Comrex IP codecs, FieldLink can send and receive audio to/from the public internet, while simultaneously handling sideline reporter audio,” Comrex said. “FieldLink will allow up to four sideline reporters simultaneously along with the FieldLink Studio connection (if licensed).”
Comrex will be at the NAB Show New York in Booth 445.
