Singaporean radio broadcaster MediaCorp is turning off its DAB services at the beginning of December. MediaCorp launched DAB services in November 1999, primarily simulcasting its 14 FM services.
In announcing the switchoff, MediaCorp stated that its DAB listenership had been stagnant compared to uptake of its MeRadio app for streaming audio to iPhones and select Android-based HTC phones.
The company plans to reassign staff working on its DAB efforts to other operations within MediaCorp.
