Historical airchecks of Minneapolis/St. Paul radio stations are available for listening on www.radiotapes.com.
The Web site, created to recognize Twin Cities stations and personalities from the past and present, contains some 300 posted recordings dating to 1941, with many from the 1970s and ’80s.
Stations featured include WDGY(AM), KDWB(AM), WCCO(AM), KSTP(AM) and WLOL(AM-FM) and WYOO(AM-FM). Also included are recordings of format switches, major news events and unique formats such as WWTC(AM)’s “All Weather Radio.”
The site recently added a collection of television news video reports on Twin Cities radio, mostly from the 1980s. There is no charge to access the airchecks.
