Visteon, iBiquity Team Up On Receivers

Visteon, which claims it’s the world 2nd-largest automotive systems supplier, will develop in-band, on-channel digital audio broadcasting receivers using iBiquity technology. Visteon, which recently became independent from Ford motor Company, is also a new investor for iBiquity, created from the merger of USA Digital Radio and Lucent Digital Radio.
Visteon also plans to form a business focused on telematics and multimedia. Engineers at this new portion of Visteon will develop aftermarket and OEM IBOC radios, using iBiquity’s technology.
Visteon will also license its digital signal processing technology to some radio chip manufacturers, so they, in turn, can sell the chips to receiver manufacturers.
