VOA TV to Air in Vietnam

VOA TV to Air in Vietnam

It’s an agreement touted as the first of its kind. The Voice of America has penned a deal with Ho Chi Minh City TV to carry five VOA television news and information programs. The shows are set for air in early July. In the past, Vietnam’s national Hanoi-based television network has occasionally picked VOA programming from regional satellites for broadcast nationwide. The addition of affiliate Ho Chi Minh TV will mark the first formal deal between VOA TV and a Vietnamese TV broadcaster.
VOA TV will provide promotional materials and a satellite dish, while HTV will voice-over in Vietnamese and air the programs during what VOA calls “prime after-dinner hours.”
1943 marked the first year VOA began radio broadcasts in Vietnamese programming.
