
Seven radio and TV professionals will be inducted into the West Virginia Broadcasting Hall of Fame this October. The ceremony will take place at the Museum of Radio and Technology in Huntington, W.Va., on Oct. 27.
This year’s inductees include:
- Jim Damron (N8TMW), who worked at several Florida radio stations before returning to West Virginia to program Charleston’s WCHS(AM). He also spent time as a host at the former WCAW(AM) and served as the station manager for WVAF(FM) in Charleston.
- Michele Crist, executive director of the West Virginia Broadcasters Association.
- Randy Yohe, a journalist and anchor for West Virginia Public Broadcasting, with previous stops at WSAZ(TV) and WOWK(TV).
- Dave Allen of WCHS(AM). He has a 38-year background in radio, including a 20-year stint hosting “Dave in the Morning” at the former WLOG(AM) in Logan.
- Susan Nicholas, a 40-year news anchor, currently at WSAZ(TV).
- Alan Dye, who has spent 40 years as the creative services director at WDTV(TV).
- Will Shumate, longtime morning host at 99.5 WJLS(FM) in Beckley. He has has spent 48 years in broadcasting.
The West Virginia Broadcasting Hall of Fame committee members are Ralph Allenbaugh, Sean Banks, Mike Buxser, Michele Crist, Randy Damron, Rick Johnson, Noel Richardson, Bob Spencer and Tom Resler.
