WideOrbit Appoints Ackerman

Industry vet takes charge of WideOrbit Central

Radio and TV broadcast veteran Dan Ackerman has been appointed to General Manager of automation and traffic & billing system developer WideOrbit’s WideOrbit Central online ad marketplace.

Founder and CEO of WideOrbit Eric R. Mathewson said: “I’m very happy to have Dan onboard managing WO Central… Dan has an entrepreneurial mindset plus extensive broadcast advertising sales experience and in-depth knowledge of interactive media—a perfect combo for driving the direction and adoption of WO Central.”

Ackerman said: “We have the opportunity to accelerate and advance the business of buying and selling television advertising through technology with WO Central. Buyers and sellers will benefit from great efficiencies, better insights and increased access to the most powerful advertising medium in the industry. I look forward to working closely with media companies and advertising agencies as we roll out WO Central to the market.”

WideOrbit Central is, according to a company release, “a one-stop, online marketplace for agencies and advertisers to purchase advertising inventory from WideOrbit stations and networks.” It will initially start with television ads and then add radio.

Ackerman has logged 10 years with CBS Television in national and local sales, including stops at stations in New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco. He also served as vice president of worldwide sales and business development for online video ad technology vendor Jivox.
