According to a new report by JupiterResearch LLC, widget use is on the increase. The trend has implications for social marketing, Web 2.0 and radio.

According to the report, about 39 percent of regular Internet users are aware of widgets; up substantially from six months ago, and more than 40 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds have used the programs, which are embeddable on desktops and user Web sites.

As James Carless noted in his RadioNet column in the November issue of Radio World International, “For radio stations, a widget can provide a direct connection between a listener and the station, including in many cases an audio feed.”
