The AT8004 (5.94 inches) and the longer AT8004L (9.46 inches) also are suitable as the “mono” mic when used in conjunction with a stereo mic. Additionally, the AT8004L’s longer handle accommodates a microphone flag while still providing sufficient space for the talent to grip the mic.

The AT8004 and AT8004L feature a hardened-steel grille as well as internal shock mounting, so they stand up to field use while minimizing handling and cable noise. The high-sensitivity assures useful output and an excellent match to most input sources, according to the company.

The mics also are fully RoHS-compliant, meaning they are free from substances specified in the E.U. directive on the reduction of hazardous substances, and they use XLRM-type connectors. Output is via balanced, low-impedance (low-Z) XLRM-type connectors.
