IBC Sneak Peek: Lawo Introduces sapphire Compact

Handles live broadcasts while also performing voice tracking, phone call editing and light production tasks

Lawo is unveiling the new sapphire compact radio console at IBC2015.

With its advanced feature set including autogain, automix, and motorized faders, sapphire compact is designed for fast-paced live radio shows, says the firm. A unique and intuitive layering feature allows the console to manage a live broadcast while performing alternate tasks such as voice tracking, phone call editing, and even light production.

In addition, flexible control surface design is available in desktop or flush-mounted styles. The eight-fader version can support up to 16 sources, while the 12-fader version is capable of up to 24 simultaneous sources.

A compact 1RU engine powers the control surface and delivers signal processing functions along with a complement of audio inputs and outputs — both analog and digital. The console presents meters, clock, timer and status in a small area on an existing computer display and does not require a dedicated monitor. Lawo says that many clients prefer it on their playout software screen where it is unobtrusively convenient.

Optional features include MADI, Ravenna/AES67 IP-audio networking and HD-SDI de-embedding. The sapphire compact radio console will be available during the fourth quarter of 2015.
