You may toggle in and out of the light mode skin in your favorite app. But how about “lite mode?”

Lite mode is a simplified interface now live in the iHeartRadio app, designed to give users quick access to core listening features without navigating the platform’s content library.

Located at the top of the app home screen on both iOS and Android, the one-tap toggle switches the interface to a simplified view focused strictly on active playback. The layout allows listeners to switch between presets, recently played audio and local radio stations without changing screens.

While television viewers may browse dozens of channels, the average radio listener typically tunes in to two to three preferred stations each month, according to Tom Poleman, iHeartMedia chief programming officer.

“Lite mode serves a real purpose when listeners are trying to quickly get to the shows and personalities they are passionate about,” Poleman said.
