SoundStack announced it is expanding its global content delivery network with edge-computing capabilities.
A release said that it has opened new data centers in London and Sydney, bringing SoundStack’s international points of presence to 12 locations, with more planned later this year.
The technology company provides streaming services to radio stations worldwide and focuses on selling “audio as a service,” including to podcasters. It announced the news in advance of this week’s Podcast Show, which takes place in London.

Jon Stephenson, SoundStack’s CEO, noted that physical server proximity is important to delivering a low-latency listening experience, not just for podcasting, but for streaming as well. The additions allow more SoundStack customers to tap into computing power closer to their location.
The new capabilities are designed to integrate directly with podcast hosting companies’ existing platforms, the release said. Hosts can continue to provide podcasters their own content management systems and tools while using SoundStack’s CDN to deliver podcasts and provide monetization options, all while adhering to IAB 2.2 measurement guidelines.
The company owns and operates its CDN with data centers in the U.S. in New York, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Los Angeles, and in Vancouver and Toronto in Canada.
