Westwood One Will Market an AI-Based Weather Service

It will be the exclusive marketer of Weathercast from Super Hi-Fi

The use of AI-based content tools in radio applications continues to proliferate. Today Westwood One and cloud-based technology supplier Super Hi-Fi announced an agreement under which Westwood One will market Super Hi-Fi’s recently introduced AI-generated weather service.

Super Hi-Fi describes Weathercaster as the only AI-powered audio-based weather report service for radio. Its content creation and audio production are automated. “Weathercaster saves radio companies significant time and money, and allows for incredibly high-quality localized weather reports to be included with every linear radio broadcast,” the company says. It introduced Weathercaster in June.

Westwood One’s syndicated content is heard on 9,400 affiliated broadcast radio stations as well as streaming and digital platforms.

Suzanne Grimes, president of Westwood One and the EVP of corporate marketing for its parent Cumulus Media, said in the announcement that the partnership “allows us to offer our radio affiliates the highest quality weather reports for their listeners with minimal effort and maximum value.”

Weathercaster uses Super Hi-Fi’s MagicStitch AI production system. Features include synthetic voices, integrated sponsorships, format-specific music beds and station IDs.
