WRFH Adds Redundancy to ENCO Automation

Radio Free Hillsdale deploys Gateway solution

From our Who’s Buying What page: College station WRFH(LP) recently updated its ENCO DAD automation software and also migrated to a redundant architecture using ENCO’s Gateway solution.

The LPFM station is licensed to Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich. and broadcasts at 101.7 MHz as Radio Free Hillsdale. It has been named College Radio Station of the Year by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters twice in four years. Scot Bertram is general manager.

Students use the automation to manage and automate broadcast content, uploading and running MP3 files and using MusicMaster software for scheduling.

Student Rachel Kookogey works in the WRFH studio.

“Using ENCO’s enConveyor and Dropbox modules, radio operators can pull down, move around or slot files into the DAD automation workflow with ease,” the software company said in its press release.

WRFH does not have a power generator so it wanted to add redundancy and backup; that project included new hardware and the addition of ENCO Gateway to back up the audio content and station databases to physical and cloud-based storage.
