The professional music industry’s NAMM show approaches and with it lots of interesting, fun and sometimes useful equipment is introduced.
One such example is from microphone maker sE Electronics — the V7 BFG. According to sE, the mic is dedicated to and designed with input from ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons.
The V7 BFG is a dynamic handheld mic with a tight supercardioid pattern to keep unwanted background noise at bay. A release explains: “The sophisticated capsule design helps isolate the singer’s voice from other instruments, ensuring vast amounts of gain before feedback, and its brand new, patented shock mount efficiently decouples the capsule from mechanical vibration, providing the lowest handling noise in its class.”
Sounds just right for sharp dressed men, a raucous morning zoo show or rowdy remote. Long beard not required.
The capsule has an aluminum voice coil. The chrome finish is reminiscent of the bumper of a roadster. Additional features include Billy Gibbons royal purple internal windscreen, steel grille, gold-plated XLR connector, mic clip and thread adapter, leatherette pouch, microfiber polishing cloth, V7 BFG sticker, two BFG Signature Jim Dunlop custom gel guitar picks, and a spare black internal windscreen. Cheap sunglasses not included.
