WorldCast Systems will demonstrate new RDS2 technology later this month at booth N8924 during NAB Show in Las Vegas.
The company will show a prototype of a new RDS encoder that provides support for existing RDS technology and the RDS2 standard, as well as an RDS2 data logger and decoder.
RDS2 increases the data capacity four-fold, facilitating added value services and graphical features. It also enables deployment to be extended in certain geographic regions, including China and Brazil. RDS2 also permits a long PS name for enhanced station branding. Additionally, the technology is backwards compatible with the existing standard.
“With RDS2, the aim is to provide enriched content to the end-user and the possibilities throughout the FM market are very exciting,” said WorldCast Systems RDS Product Manager Olivier Soulié.
According to the company, this will be the first time that RDS2 has been shown internationally.
