ENCO DAD Adds to Virtuality

Stratus-built server increases dependability

Broadcast automation and playout software developer ENCO Systems has announced new hardware for its DAD automation system.

ENCO1ss is dedicated hardware for a DAD server. The server is built by Stratus, a company that specializes in always-on, mission-critical hardware. An ENCO release says that 15 of the top 20 telecoms use Stratus servers at some points in their networks.

“Stratus servers are known for their ultra-dependable operation … The Stratus server eliminates the complexity of other high-availability solutions and provides seamless substitution of any failing hardware components to deliver uninterrupted automation operation,” the release says.

It adds, “Running on VMware or HyperV, ENCO1ss provides true hardware mirroring so that failure is nearly impossible. ENCO and Stratus also promise proactive 24/7/365 monitoring of systems, ensuring overnight replacement of any system component if needed.”

General Manager for ENCO Ken Frommert said, “We’re offering improved hardware and support, the system is easier to deploy, and there are fewer limitations to operation. Broadcasters will gain the benefits that virtualization provides plus the redundancy they desire, all while lowering their total cost of ownership.”
