Wow, the Jeremy Preece photos of the view from Keddie Peak in northeastern California sure brought back memories!

My wife Teresa and I built, owned and operated station KCMT(FM) in Chester, Calif., in 1989 after having fought our way through the FCC’s process of amending the table of assignments. It granted Chester its first FM service.

After that, we fought through several competing applicants to finally gain a construction permit, building the site pictured in Jeremy’s photos in winter 1989.

We naively underestimated the impact that snow and ice would have on the original tower, as can be seen in the photo.

 Thanks for sharing!

— Mike Worrall, engineer, KCSN(FM) Northridge, Calif., and KSBR(FM) Mission Viejo, Calif.
