Italy’s RAI Invests in DAB+ Radio

Will also continue its investments with its traditional FM stations

Radio is still a vital part of Italy’s broadcast plans as indicated by recent announcements from the RAI’s radio department.

The public broadcaster announced that it would increase its investment in DAB+ digital radio technology but also in services to improve FM reception.

RAI has plans to propose new web and app offerings following the success of RAI Play, as well as work on a spin-off of the Radio 2 channel and the digital channels for Radio 1 and Radio 3. Much of the focus, however, will be on DAB+ digital radio.

This will include new programming as well as coverage of the motorway network with the technology in 2018.
