ALBANY, Ga. WFXL(TV) recently reported that Cumulus station WALG(AM) in Albany, Ga., has taken down its historic towers.
The pair of hollow iron towers were originally raised in the 1940s but had a previously life as ships masts, according to Regional Engineering Coordinator for Cumulus Broadcasting Robert Combs. He noted that they had rusted, which rendered them unsafe to climb.
Broadcasts will be transferred to another tower, the same one broadcasting WQVE(FM), via folded unipole antenna.
