Golden West Radio Installs Dielectric Antenna

Boosts FM power for Saskatchewan radio station

RAYMOND, Maine Dielectric is sending its DCR-C elliptically polarized antenna north of the border to help boost thepower of Golden West Radios CKVX(FM), a Kindersley, Saskatchewan radio station.

The installation of the DCR-C antenna for CKVX was a result of the station expanding its FM signal by raising its transmitter power output to 18.9 kW and its effective radiated power to 100 kW. CKVX went with Dielectrics side-mounted, ring-style antenna with an elliptically polarized design with a 70/30 horizontal-to-vertical pattern. Additional design features for the antenna include a negative 0.75-degree tilt; a 10-bay design; and full radomes for ice and wind protection.

According to Golden West Radios director of engineering, the installation of the DCR-C antenna helped achieve a return loss of better than 30 DB at +/- 100 KHz.
