Amateur Radio Supplies Announces Giveaway

Contest to promote youth interest in amateur radio

Amateur Radio Supplies of Haverhill, Mass., announced today a new biannual giveaway to promote youth in amateur radio DXing and contesting. The prize is a complete high-frequency amateur radio station.

“Getting on HF in today’s economy is very challenging for many, but especially for our youth operators,” said Jeff Demers, the owner of Amateur Radio Supplies. “Many youth operators are unable to purchase the needed equipment to get on the air … We want them to experience the joy that has propelled us in this hobby for many decades.”

Applicants may be from any country but must be under the age of 21 in order to qualify. Applicants must provide name, call sign and license class, online here and they must also give brief answers to the following questions:

How often are you able to operate on the HF bands? Where (what QTH) do you typically operate from and
How do you intend to use the equipment provided?

According to ARS, nominations will also be accepted. Contact Randy Rowe to nominate a deserving youth. Applications and nominations will be accepted until Dec. 21. Winners will be announced in January of 2013.

Amateur Radio Supplies will give a complete HF station to the winner, including:

• Alinco DX-SR8T/E 160-6m all-mode transceiver and 30 Amp power supply
• LDG AT-100 Pro II desktop antenna tuner
• Choice of rugged all-band G5RV or HyGain DX-77A vertical antenna
• 100 feet of premium RG-213 coax
