Bogen Communications, a name that’s probably familiar to older engineers, has released a digital sound pressure level meter.
Called the
, Bogen says it measures 30–130 dB at 31.5 Hz–8.5 kHz. It utilizes a 1/2-inch condenser microphone. The SPLM has 0.1 dB resolution, a four-digit display, bar graph over/under and a max value hold function.
Details include: designed to IEC 651 Type2 and ANSI S1.4 Type2 standards; fast/slow time weighting; A/C frequency weighting; calendar display for dB recording along with time display.
A nice feature is a USB port for interfacing with a PC. Free SoundLAB software allows for data record downloading, real-time data sampling analysis and the printing of graph and data functions.
Other features include 2 1/8-inch backlit LCD screen, tripod mount; auto power-off after 10 minutes of inactivity and battery (AA) operation. Ships with a hard case and windscreen. Price: $330.
