Clear Channel Expands Microsoft Relationship

Xbox gamers can ‘Kinect’ with iHeartRadio now

We’re not sure whether consumers are clamoring for the ability to control digital radio in the living room with their voices and bodies. But that’s what they’re gonna get, because Clear Channel and Microsoft are expanding their partnership.

Clear Channel said it will integrate its New iHeartRadio service into Microsoft’s Xbox 360 game system via the Xbox Live entertainment service.

“Beginning this winter, the New iHeartRadio will be available for free to Xbox Live Gold members,” the stated.

“Gold members who have Kinect for Xbox 360 can use the product’s revolutionary sensor to experience an entertainment first: the ability to control digital radio in their living room using their voice and body.”

The Kinect feature allows that capability. Gold members without the Kinect option can operate New iHeartRadio using their controller.

The companies worked together earlier to put iHeartRadio on Windows Phone 7 and to stream the recent iHeartRadio Music Festival in HD on the Xbox 360.
