RadioTime says its Local Radio feature detects a listener’s location and displays local AM/FM radio stations and programs, making it easier for people to browse and listen to local programming on PCs or streamed to wireless Internet radio devices.
The technology lets listeners search for and listen to 70,000 local and syndicated shows airing on 50,000 stations around the world. The Local Radio function means desktop and device users don’t need to browse through Web sites to get to their favorite local shows.
Like a GPS map, Local Radio generates a list of AM/FM radio available for their Zip code or from thousands of international local radio markets. When a listener searches for a syndicated program, Local Radio automatically tunes to the appropriate local affiliate, if available. This means the listener will hear local news and information updates, improving the advertising value for local broadcasters, according to the company.
