Radio will be well represented when RTDNA hands out its coveted Edward R. Murrow Awards in October.
Earning Overall Excellence awards — for which organizations had to consistently demonstrate depth and scope in its coverage — were CBS Radio News in the network radio category (the fourth in a row for that organization), WBUR(FM) Boston in the large market radio category, and WATD(FM) for small radio markets.
National Public Radio won four Murrows including Best Website and Hard News Reporting.
Fifth-nine news organizations were named with 89 Edward R. Murrow awards all told from the Radio Television Digital News Association. Among them were radio organizations like WNYC(AM/FM), Youth Radio, WTOP(AM/FM), WVPN(FM) and Alabama Public Radio.
“For the first time in 2010, RTDNA honored audio and video news produced exclusively for online news organizations,” it also stated.
“The Associated Press won every award presented to an online news organization with a national audience, including the award for News Series with the entry, ‘Marine’s Diary,’ an interactive, three-part video essay.”
