Radio France has chosen to go with 2wcom’s FlexDSR02+ for satellite audio distribution, deploying 60 units with dual tuner option to service its network.
According to the German company, FlexDSR02+ digital satellite receivers feature support for all major studio formats, automatic program switching, full regionalization capabilities, SIRC remote control through satellite, fail-safe dedicated hardware, and more.
The receivers accept inputs from satellite, Internet, and synchronous transmission lines, said 2wcom, adding that SD card-based internal memory allows for additional backup solutions and transmission scenarios. Automatic weight-balancing of parameters and failover switching to alternative input sources is complemented by audio fading between sources, it concluded.
“2wcom’s technology perfectly answered our needs for compactness, quality and efficiency together with the flexibility and robustness we wanted,” said Emmanuel Chantry, Radio France head of network and telecom projects. “The dual-tuner option and the built-in support for streaming are very important features of the FlexDSR units, and we are achieving useful savings in rack space too.”
