WRN, a U.K.-based transmission company, signed a contract with Rainbow Radio to start broadcasting that station to North America via the Galaxy 25 digital satellite.

Rainbow Radio describes itself as “the premier-licensed Ghanaian/West African commercial radio.” It airs in the United Kingdom and Ireland on Sky, for which WRN provides satellite and data services.

Rainbow Radio officials said they’ve had “huge interest” from the Ghanaian/West African community in North America. The station is already available in the United States to listeners on mobile cellphones via the UpSnap mobile service.

WRN offers transatlantic fiber backhaul service and satellite uplink and capacity service for Galaxy 25.
