Telos Alliance and Super Hi-Fi have announced a partnership to introduce LiveConnect, a new live-over-IP protocol that connects traditional live radio shows to cloud playout and production systems.
The technology aims to increase efficiency, reduce workloads and provide greater flexibility and security for broadcasters. According to a joint press release, AI will be used to assist on-air talent, “giving radio broadcasters time back in their day.”
LiveConnect is a high-fidelity audio IP link that connects the Telos family of broadcast products, such as the Axia Quasar and Altus mixing consoles, with Program Director, Super Hi-Fi’s cloud-based Radio Operating System.
“With LiveConnect, broadcasters can seamlessly go live from any studio — in any location — to any radio station — at any time,” wrote the companies. “The broadcast studio is no longer confined to a single space.”
Zack Zalon, CEO of Super Hi-Fi, said in the release: “Live radio is still the most listened-to audio delivery system in the world by a wide margin. Our partnership [with Telos] will help broadcasters take complete control over how, when and where they broadcast, melding the experience of live radio with powerful AI-driven cloud delivery services.
“AI assistance will enable them to focus on the creative part of their jobs instead of the mechanical part,” Zalon continued. “It’s a win-win for radio station operators, managers and talent alike.”
The service will undergo testing with select customers in early 2025, with global availability expected soon after.
