T-Mobile Launches European Flash-OFDM Market Trial

Flarion Technologies, the architect of the Flash-OFDM mobile broadband system, that T-Mobile International, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG, deployed a trial of Flarion’s system for mobile broadband services in The Hague, the Netherlands.
A network of RadioRouters has been installed and the first group of users is using the network. T-Mobile has been testing Flash-OFDM as a mobile broadband data solution for Europe and the U.S. since 2003 and will now collect data on usage, and customer behavior.
Users will experience a mobile data service of around 1Mbps capable of bursting to 3.2Mbps in the downlink and 300-500kbps in the uplink, bursting to 900kbps.
Flarion’s technology is in market and technology trials with operators that include Nextel Communications (U.S.), Vodafone KK (Japan), Telstra (Australia), and the city of Washington, D.C. for public safety and security communication.
Flarion says with its Flash-OFDM technology, mobile operators can seamlessly connect customers to corporate LANs and consumers to the Internet with the speed and low packet latency that exceed stringent wired network requirements, with mobile broadband and cellular coverage.
