The final “casting call” is out for Aug. 25th’s That’s Voiceover event in Chicago.
The doors open at around 10:30 a.m. at the Harris Theater for the combination talent show, workshop, career expo and social event for VO talent (or those looking to become such), as well as advertising industry folks and casting professionals.
The event will be co-hosted by WMAQ(TV)’s LeeAnn Trotter. The winner of the talent show portion of the event will receive an opportunity for some voice work with WMAQ, an interview with a talent agent and a Neumann TLM 102 microphone. The WMAQ VO work is union-approved (and in Chicago that is a big deal).
The workshops will be led by VO professionals. Something different from previous That’s Voiceover shows in New York and Los Angeles is “Speed Dating & Your VO Demo.” According to Thats Voiceover co-host Joan Baker, “We have pulled together eight top agents in Chicago (most representing national clients) and will make them available for 10-minute interviews with 25 audience members who will be selected by lottery and confirmed ahead of the expo.”
Oh, and cocktails will be served.
