XM, Starbucks Split

The pair ended a programming and marketing agreement that included music promotions in the coffee chain’s stores and CDs sold with both companies’ logos.

XM Satellite Radio and Starbucks have parted ways.

The pair ended a programming and marketing agreement that included music promotions in the coffee chain’s stores and CDs sold with both companies’ logos. Seattle’s Starbucks said the channel, formerly Starbucks Entertainment Channel, has been renamed Starbucks XM Cafe.

The news came to light in a recent SEC filing from XM.

Queried about the change by Radio World, XM said in a statement: “We made a business decision to allocate our resources towards other marketing and programming initiatives. Our three-year relationship helped both companies expand their reach as music and entertainment brands.”
