VMX is a virtual mixing platform that Wheatstone designed to remove the physical limitations of the traditional studio. It can serve as a single virtual mixing backend for an operation. Users can access the VML virtual broadcast console through a web browser on a laptop, tablet or desktop computer.
The VMX platform is hardware agnostic and can be deployed on existing servers or computers in the TOC to run multiple production rooms.
It can also be added to a dedicated appliance later to serve more studios.
“VMX removes the physical limitations — and hardware costs — of studios, making it possible to instantly set up mixing for remote broadcasts or to quickly add on a voicetrack, on-air or production studio without the capital expenditure,” the company said.
It is AES67-compliant for interoperability within SMPTE ST 2110 facilities and other AES67 networks.
VMX is among the latest additions to Wheatstone’s Layers software suite, its technology for virtualizing the broadcast air chain as an extension of the WheatNet IP audio network.
