RFmondial has introduced a broadcast DAB modulator/exciter LV5e module and exhibited it at IBC.
The company said the module is designed for enabling transmitter manufacturers to enter the DAB broadcast market or for providing existing manufacturers an alternative source for their production.
“The LV5e is an OEM fully digital broadcast exciter, which can be easily integrated into existing transmitter designs. Built on a fail-safe, embedded platform, the module features crucial functionalities like seamless operating on multiple incoming EDI streams; precise SFN timing control; advanced signal processing like crest factor reduction and limiter; as well as adaptive pre-correction.”
It highlighted the module’s integrated monitoring capability, which it said is based on proven RF-DAB monitoring and measurement receiver technology and provides incoming EDI analysis and statistics; absolute SFN timing monitoring; measurement diagrams like spectrum, MER over carrier and constellation; time-based diagrams of measurement values; and an embedded services decoder.
The module is due to ship in the first half of next year. “Transmitter manufacturers are welcome to contact us for evaluation and integration discussions,” RFmondial stated.
At IBC the module was on display in the Fraunhofer booth.
