From our “Who’s Buying What” page: The Louisville Bats, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, have chosen StreamGuys Ultra-Low Latency (ULL) streaming technology to eliminate digital broadcast delays for fans inside Louisville Slugger Field.
Digital processing and broadcast distribution typically introduce delays of approximately 10 to 20 seconds, making it a challenge for fans at the ballpark to listen to live radio play-by-play in real time. The issue grew for the Bats after a delay was introduced on the team’s flagship AM radio station, prompting the organization to seek an alternative.
Working with StreamGuys, the team launched a dedicated low-latency stream that fans can access via mobile devices while attending games.
“Our fans wanted that experience back, and StreamGuys gave us a solution that was much easier, faster and more affordable to implement than I ever expected,” said Nick Curran, director of broadcasting for the Louisville Bats.
Originally launched in 2024, the ULL platform uses StreamGuys’ Contribution Network and low-latency delivery architecture to sync audio with live action. It supports integration into team and broadcaster mobile apps on iOS and Android devices, and offers optional dynamic pre-roll advertising.
The Louisville Bats franchise has operated in the city since 1982, moving to downtown Louisville Slugger Field in 2000.
