Cybersecurity in broadcasting is the focus of a daylong “summit” to be held in New York City on Oct. 20 by The North American Broadcasters Association.
The timing will be good for anyone who plans to be in town for the separate NAB Show New York, which opens the next day.
The NABA event is for management and technical people in both TV and radio. It will be held at The Greene Space at New York Public Radio’s WNYC on Charlton Street from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It costs $100 to attend, and is free to NABA members.
Speakers are scheduled from organizations including the FBI, Google, New York Public Radio, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Sinclair, Fox, CBS/Paramount, PBS, Mandiant/Google Cloud, CYPFER, Wiz, OKTA, Trusted Partner Network, Columbia University and others.
“Following the inaugural Cyber University in 2023, this year’s event will bring together cybersecurity practitioners, broadcast and technology leaders, law enforcement officials and industry experts to share practical insights into protecting media organizations against an increasingly complex cyber threat landscape,” the organization said in a release.
It was announced by NABA Director-General Rebecca Hanson, who added, “Broadcasters are increasingly adopting IP-based production, cloud infrastructure, remote workflows and interconnected technology ecosystems, which bring with them new security vulnerabilities.”
Topics include ransomware response, building executive and board-level support for cybersecurity investment, security implications of agentic AI, cloud and identity protection, law enforcement perspectives on cyber threats and content supply-chain security.
Registration is open. The organizers say early registration is recommended because of limited space.
