AUSTIN, TexasThe Wi-Fi Alliance says it has launched Wi-Fi HaLow, a solution that will nearly double the range of traditional Wi-Fi and increase the robustity of connections in difficult environments, according toRCR Wireless.
This new low-power Wi-Fi solution will utilize spectrum frequencies above 900 MHz not relying on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz spectrum bands in order to enable low-power connectivity. The technology is targeted for Internet of Things applications and will support IP-based connectivity and multi-vendor interoperability, as well as connection to the cloud.
