Bavaria Increases DAB+ Service With New Transmitters

There are now 47 DAB+ transmitter locations across the German state

Digital Radio Germany says Bayerische Rundfunk has commissioned a new set of transmitters in the Augsburg district of Welden, Germany.

According to the announcement, this will increase the Bavarian Broadcasting Company’s set of DAB+ transmitter network to 47 locations in channel 11D. In addition, the regional network of Upper Bavaria-Swabia on channel 10A will receive reinforcement for another transmitter location.

With this new transmitter, 97 percent of residents in Bavaria can use the network to receive digital BR programming, adds Digital Radio Germany. In specifies that the Bavarian motorways are 99 percent covered and that in Upper Bavaria-Swabia, 96.6 percent of the population can receive DAB+ outdoors and 87.7 percent can receive it indoors.

The statement also underscored Bavaria’s further plans to improve reception with new DAB+ transmitters in Wallberg, Dingolfing and Hesselberg by the end of the year, as well as its plans for additional transmitters by 2020.
