I read the sad news about the passing away of Jerry LeBow.
Jerry was also instrumental in helping RDS to be adapted to RBDS. In this arrangement I was directly involved for the European Broadcasting Union, together with Terry Beale from Delco, who was the EIA expert on RDS in the early ’90s.
Jerry made us meet in New Orleans, where we agreed to create an RDS variant called RBDS for North America.

Shortly after this we promoted RBDS at the CES 1993 in Chicago. John Casey, today with Radio World but at that time with Denon, led a promotional campaign for RBDS, sponsored by EIA, to make U.S. broadcasters aware of this innovation for FM radio.

This kind of nice collaboration with the EIA arranged for me at that time with the EBU by Jerry LeBow I shall never forget.
With tears in my eyes I remember Jerry LeBow. I met him last about 10 years ago when he came to see me in Geneva.
