Wow!
Snowville Road.
It REALLY earned that name. Winters there were brutal. It seemed as if the “snow belt” ran right up that street.
Most days, I worked out of the second floor of that building in 1988—1989. I was vice president of operations for Gore-Overgaard Broadcasting and one of our stations, WRDZ(AM) 1260, had studios and offices there.
What a great experience to be working in the same building as Carl Smith and his team. We all became friends and it was wonderful to visit Carl, discuss AM situations and learn from the master. To say that he was a good man would be putting it mildly.
If my memory serves me correctly, he lived right next door, under all of that AM and UHF RF, for years!
Even though the building was clad in Copper, you could still hear 1100 WWWE(AM)’s audio — now WTAM. Pretty eerie if you were working there on a Saturday!
But I have nothing but fond memories that I will never forget.
