Digital Radio, DTV Are Spotlighted in Quincy Event

Several manufacturers will take part in a technical conference on digital radio and digital television, the first such event offered by Quincy University in Quincy, Ill.
Organizers are hoping to draw attendees from Illinois, Iowa and Missouri, if not more-distant states.
The school’s Engineering Program will sponsor the event on Thursday, Nov. 6. The cost is $50 in advance, $75 at the door; lunch is included. Participating companies include Andrew, Broadcast Electronics, Continental Electronics, Dielectric, Harris Broadcast, Myat, and Thales Broadcast and Multimedia. The program includes a paper on digital radio technologies used to send communication to submarines.
Presentation topics include “Determining the Best IBOC Migration Path for Your Station,” “Technical Details on Digital Radio in the United States,” “FM Antenna System Design Considerations for Migrating to FM Digital Radio Transmission” and “VLF Transmission Techniques,” as well as a digital radio roundtable. Consultant Tom Yingst, a retired executive for Harris and Varian/Continental, is a keynote speaker.
