O&A Suspended From XM, Not CBS

XM Satellite Radio suspended jocks Opie and Anthony for 30 days this week, appearing to be extra cautious while its proposed merger with rival Sirius Satellite Radio is before regulators.

XM Satellite Radio suspended jocks Opie and Anthony for 30 days this week, appearing to be extra cautious while its proposed merger with rival Sirius Satellite Radio is before regulators.

The satcaster said it “deplored” the comments aired on the show last week; the jocks issued an apology. A guest on O&A made comments involving sex and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, First Lady Laura Bush and Queen Elizabeth, according to several accounts.

XM said additional comments made this week by O&A “put into question whether they appreciate the seriousness of the matter” and that’s when the satcaster decided to suspend the hosts and their show.

O&A are still doing a daily show on CBS Radio-owned WFNY(FM), New York.

XM also reiterated how subscribers can block channels and noted that the letters “XL,” for explicit language, continuously appear on the screen for certain channels.
