The Library of American Broadcasting Foundation has announced the “Before It Was History, It Was Broadcast” initiative to support radio and TV stations in advance of the U.S. 250th Anniversary.
As part of the effort, LABF will provide :30 and :60 broadcast spots that recognize the role local stations have played in capturing the nation’s defining moments.
The spots are designed as flexible “shells,” allowing stations to incorporate their own voices, stories and archival content. Each includes royalty-free music, with television versions also featuring patriotic visuals.
“America’s 250th Anniversary is a powerful opportunity to reflect on how our nation’s story has been told — and local broadcasters have been there every step of the way,” said LABF co-chairs Deborah Parenti and Dave “Chachi” Denes in the release.
A second phase will follow, featuring pre-produced national spots drawn from the Library of American Broadcasting’s archival audio and video, to be released soon.
Interested stations are encouraged to contact Mary Collins, LABF’s executive director.
