The Mentoring & Inspiring Women in Radio Group and Nielsen Music have chosen Grisel Barajas as the mentee for the second MIW Group-Nielsen Music Programming one-year mentorship program.
Barajas, program director and afternoon host for Radio One’s Spanish-language station W286CM in Indianapolis, was selected from a field of over 50 candidates.
She has been matched with mentors from the MIW Radio Group and Nielsen Music who will help her advance her “programming and professional skills,” according to the announcement.
Nielsen Entertainment Director of Radio Haley Jones said, “Grisel’s leadership, passion for radio and sharp programming skills embody all of the key traits that we look for in a candidate.”
Barajas is a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, and immigrated to Chicago in 1997. Today, she also works as on-air talent and content collaborator for Telemundo affiliate 10-WDNI-CD.
She was introduced at the MIW Group’s traditional Radio Show dinner on Sept. 25; she attended the event in Orlando, Fla., courtesy of a scholarship from the program.
The MIW-Nielsen program supplements the longstanding MIW Group Mildred Carter Mentoring Program.
