Organizers of the IBC2025 convention previewed the show’s themes and highlights for journalists on Tuesday.

The show will return to RAI Amsterdam on Sept. 12 to 15 with the theme “Shaping the Future.” CEO Michael Crimp expects attendees to come from approximately 170 countries. Last year’s attendance was about 45,000, with about 1,350 booths across the facility’s 14 halls. So far around 1,100 exhibitors have committed for this year.

Crimp said the scope of the show has expanded well beyond broadcasting, to also include global streamers, commercial organizations that create their own content, and other business sectors.

New this year will be Future Tech, described as a “hub of emerging technologies, collaborative projects and next-gen talent.” It will take up all of Hall 14.

Topics and themes of the convention will include AI-based personalization, cloud-native workflows, immersive tech, content provenance, virtual technologies, platform fragmentation and how to fight disinformation.

An “IBC Hackfest x Google Cloud” is a two-day hackathon solving M&E challenges with Gemini AI.

An Accelerator Innovation Zone will show off nine proof-of-concept projects. A “Google AI Penalty Challenge” is described as “an immersive interactive football-fan experience” that uses integrated technologies to showcase AI-driven decision-making in sports performance.

IBC also will salute a century of television innovation, noting the first TV pictures sent by John Logie Baird at Strathclyde University in 1925.

The exhibitor list includes names familiar to Radio World readers such as AEQ, Aqua Broadcast, AxelTech, Broadcast Radio, ENCO, Fraunhofer Digital Media, GatesAir, Inovonics, Jutel, Lawo, MusicMaster, Nautel, Radio.Cloud, RCS, Shure, Telos Alliance, Thimeo,  Tieline, Wheatstone and WinMedia.
