It’s almost not news: Internet radio reaches another record high in the latest MeasureCast weekly report.
What is surprising, according to MeasureCast, is that last week’s increase came at a time when many people are on vacation. Previously, MeasureCast reported that Internet radio listening was primarily an at-work activity.
The peak listening hour was 3 p.m. EDT, with 8 percent of the day’s listening. Big movers last week included two public stations, Santa Monica College’s KCRW(FM) and Informational Education Corporation’s WCPE(FM) in Wake Forest, N. C.
KCRW(FM) jumped from 55th place two weeks ago to 22nd place last week by streaming 10,404 more hours. The NPR affiliate is home of some of public radio’s best-known arts and news shows, including Harry Shearer’s “Le Show,” the news talk show “To the Point” and Joe Frank’s dark stories in “The Other Side.”
Informational Education Corporation’s WCPE(FM) in Wake Forest, N. C. moved from 33 to 24 with 6,295 more hours last week.
